Bonnie and Jim Harlow own an equine therapy business.  Jim works with clients in the office, and Bonnie instructs the clients as they work with the horses.  The couple keep the horses and horse stalls on their home acreage. Jim used to office several days a week in area locations, but it made more sense to have his office at home. So Bonnie started researching options for a small shell that they could finish out into an office. Dr. Roy Wilmeth and his wife Lisa own Kingdom Veterinary Clinic , a small-animal practice. Lisa is the office manager and receptionist, with two assistants helping Dr. Wilmeth.   The Wilmeths started the practice from scratch and didn’t want a lot of debt, so they needed a small building for their clinic.  Roy had already researched barn builders and had purchased a shed from Ulrich. “I wanted something that was very stout, sturdy, and had good craftsmanship,” he said. He also wanted a building that looked good, and the detailed exterior trim of Ulrich buildings fit the bill. The Wilmeths bought a 16×40 Texan cabin shell and finished it out themselves, opening for business in January of 2018. They named the practice Kingdom Veterinary Clinic, Roy says, because “we’re here to further God’s Kingdom in all that we do, and that includes our work.” The couple cares about both the animals and their owners. “While we love what we do . . . more importantly, our job on this earth is to spread the message of the Gospel and to love people,” Roy says.  The cabin has a reception area, restroom, exam room, and treatment area for surgeries and dental cleanings, with cages for sick animals. The Wilmeths made the cabin interior homey so the clients and their animals would feel at ease. Delivery of the Ulrich cabin shell went well, although four inches of rain just prior to delivery created some obstacles.   “This building has worked out fabulously for us. We get compliments on it all the time,” Roy says.  “Even though it’s small, it has done exactly what we needed it to do. It’ll be a bittersweet day to move out of this building because we really love it.”

Babs and Avery Goodlett hang out at their ranch every weekend. They had initially purchased a mobile home for the property, but when their entire family was at the ranch, they needed more space. But it wasn’t just space, per se, the Goodlett’s also liked the idea of having their own space, slightly separate from the rest of the family. They started looking for a building they could finish out as a cabin and visited our nearby store. The couple loves the porch. “We can sit out there in the morning with coffee,” says Babs, “and we have the view of the land.” The couple reports that weekends on the ranch are even better, now that they have their own cabin. “Everybody can get down here as an entire family,” says Avery. “Now we have our own space that we can get away.”

Rick Brewer and his wife Sherry Chaney moved into their home about two years ago. The property had an old storage shed when they bought it, but it was infested with carpenter ants, and the front doors blew off in a storm. Rick plans to work on restoring his ‘70s motorcycle and old furniture. The “portable” garage is now their permanent happy place, a few short steps from their back porch.
