At Ulrich Cabins we try to create an amazing experience for each of our clients. We set expectations high, and then we work hard to deliver on our promises. We want to make the buying process as enjoyable and helpful as we can. In 2017 we built a beautiful cabin park so that our clients can experience a variety of sizes and styles before they settle on a cabin design. Recently, however, we took things to another level. We completely renovated a large portion of our office space into dedicated sales and design rooms. These rooms are finished out with the same materials we use in our finished cabins, including hand-scraped style laminate flooring, cedar wainscot, and pine walls. After our clients and their Ulrich design consultant have toured the cabin park and the inside of our factory, they can pull their chairs up to a large, rustic table next to a giant screen. The design consultant pulls up a cabin design on the big screen, and they begin customizing the design, switching between a standard layout and 3D view as they go along. It’s a great space to think through cabin design details because the room itself feels much like being in one of our luxurious cabins. It’s just another way that we make the purchase process as fun and as enjoyable as possible. When Steven Donovan wants a break from his job on the road, he heads out to his hunting cabin near Rock Springs, Texas. “I’ve been hunting out here for 10-12 years and always wanted to have a place out here,” he says. He wanted something off the beaten path with a view from a hill. He found raw land he loved in the free-range hill country, land with no utilities or even a road. Once the site was prepared, Steve wanted two cabins which would be turn-key, but he knew that dealing with construction companies would take a lot of time and hassle. He loved the simplicity of working with Ulrich Barn Builders. Donovan and his wife met with Ulrich sales associate Chris Fenn. Fenn made them comfortable throughout the process of looking at model cabins, considering options, and making plans. Chris accommodated all the changes Steve requested. Steve chose Ulrich’s 32×44 foot Moose Creek cabin, the perfect size for his family which includes three daughters and their families. The 14×32 foot Bear Lake cabin is used by hunters or other visitors. With service manager Carlos and his crew, the delivery process of the finished cabins went well. Steve says the Ulrich Barn Builders cabins are “built solid as a rock.” He loves all the wood incorporated into their design. It offers a rustic, hunter’s look with a homey feel. “They’re set up beautifully, they work beautifully, and they’re designed beautifully,” Steve says. Donovan enjoys spending time at the cabins with his family away from the city, enjoying the hill country, the views, and exotic wildlife in the area. He says, “I don’t get out here often enough. Bill and Mayra Richardson from Hockley, Texas, were looking for a weekend home so they could spend time at their ranch. They wanted a good quality, durable, beautiful house without paying for a new build. Researching log cabins online, they found Ulrich Log Cabins. They visited the factory to watch the building process. Bill says, “The people we met that were actually doing the construction stopped what they were doing, they spoke with us, they answered our questions.” He could tell the builders were “quality people who actually care about what they’re doing.” Sales associate Chris Fenn was personable, trustworthy, and easy to work with, showing the Richardsons in detail how the cabins were built. The model cabins felt like a vacation retreat, and Bill and Mayra decided on a 16×52 Homestead cabin. They liked the high ceilings and the two-bedroom, two-bath model. They appreciated being able to customize the interior layout of the home. All went well with the delivery of the cabin. In the year since, weekends have been filled with family times, boating, and fishing at the ranch. The cabin is at the heart of all their family celebrations. One of the Richardsons’ favorite features of the log cabin is the big front porch, where they drink coffee on the weekends and enjoy the view. “We use it for weekend retreats with the family,” Mayra says. The Richardsons love their Ulrich log cabin. With their garage stuffed to overflowing, Don and Sherri Reed needed a storage shed. They had bought a small shed from Ulrich Barn Builders several years ago and loved it so much they knew they wanted another Ulrich building. As the Reeds looked at the model sheds at their local Ulrich lot, their plans got fancier as they went along. Having looked at competitors’ storage buildings, they appreciated the quality at Ulrich. The spot for the shed in the Reeds’ backyard was not easily accessible, so they were glad for the option to have the shed built on-site. Don and Sherri chose a charming 8×10 Elite Gardener. They’ve made their backyard beautiful, and they wanted a storage building that would add to the beauty. Sherri loved the Elite Gardener details of the window box and rooster cupola. She raises silkie chickens and wanted to use the building to store some of her pets’ supplies. Don says he enjoyed the process of working with Ulrich Barn Builders. Sales consultant John explained their options well and helped them customize the storage barn. “The craftsman that came out and actually put the building up, he was really knowledgeable. It only took him two days,” Don said. The building was packaged efficiently on the trailer, so the builder didn’t waste time as he assembled the storage barn. The Ulrich warranty impressed Don as well. “As the craftsman explained it to us, anything that goes wrong with it in the next twenty years, Ulrich will come out and repair it. Scotty Rigsby runs Rigsby’s Garden Center and Silverado Lawn and Landscaping from 16 acres. The property has an old farmhouse, big oaks, and a creek running through. Scotty needed storage for tables, chairs, and décor for events and was renting three storage units a mile away. He wanted storage on-site that would last for a long time. Scotty first saw an Ulrich building at the Stock Show and Rodeo and was impressed by how well made the buildings were. Ten years later, when he needed storage for his business, Ulrich Barn Builders was the only place he looked. He chose a 14×32 Elite Portable Garage because of the charming exterior of the building. Since Scotty didn’t need a garage door, his sales consultant exchanged the garage door for double doors on the side, adding a loft on each end for increased storage space. Together they matched the exterior colors to Scotty’s farmhouse, adding window boxes and a cupola to make the storage building even prettier. His sales consultant quickly worked out financing details for the building. Now instead of throwing money away on rent for three inconveniently located storage units, Scotty pays the same amount each month for a beautiful, sturdy building right on his property, a building he will eventually own out-right. Ulrich’s customer service didn’t end at installation. About six months after the building was delivered, the ground settled, shifting the ramp so the doors wouldn’t open easily. After one call to Ulrich, they sent a crew back out to lower the ramp and relevel the building. “The product, the process, and the quality have been phenomenal,” Scotty says. “My experience working with Ulrich mirrored the quality of the product.” #ScottyRigsby

Bill and Cindy Belote spent a long time looking for the perfect storage shed for their yard. From DIY kits to sheds from big box stores, they had seen it all. “For years we’ve looked,” Cindy says, laughing. Bill thought about buying something unfinished and doing the painting and finishing work himself. But with his schedule, he knew that could take years to accomplish. So he wanted to get a storage shed that was completely finished. At an Ulrich retail location, Bill and Cindy looked at various shed models. Bill chose the 12×14 Heritage Limited shed with pretty trim details, shutters, and window boxes. “I just like the way this shed looks,” Bill explains. Although he knew the price was higher, he also knew he’d be disappointed if he didn’t buy the shed he actually wanted. Six inches of rain was dumped on the Red Oak area of Texas the day before the storage shed was to be delivered. Despite that, the Ulrich crew made the delivery on time. “They did a really good job” getting the building on-site, Cindy says. Being in the roofing business, Bill hopes to add a cupola someday. But for now, Bill says, “It’s complete. I don’t have to do anything to it.” The Belotes added rocks as the skirting and built steps and a ramp. Janiece Cox has enjoyed creating stained glass as a hobby for over 20 years. Several years ago, she decided to move in with her son Ken Poynter and his wife Rosemary in their spacious home in Double Oak, TX. Rather than dedicating a bedroom to the hobby, Janiece began shopping for a backyard shed she could convert into a studio. She was quite particular. She didn’t want a something that would look like a generic storage shed, but something truly fitting for a she shed. As she researched online, she found our Elite Craftsman. “There was nothing out there comparable in style,” says Janiece. Ken, Rosemary, and Janiece settled on our 12×16 ft model. This gave them enough space to line the sides with cabinets and countertops, while still allowing for a movable center island. After another contractor poured a concrete pad, our Ulrich on-site crew built the structure. Then another contractor finished out the interior and added guttering to the exterior. The finished result is really nice. Positioned close to the pool, it adds interest to the backyard and enhances the value of the Poynter’s property. Rosemary has taken up the stained glass hobby as well. It’s actually more than a hobby now, it’s also a fledgling business called She Shed Glass. Janiece and Rosemary design and produce a variety of stained glass art, including panels, stepping stones, and ornaments. Ken pours the concrete molds for the stained glass benches. Misty Sikes needed a building to house her photography studio. Her husband Rick says the studio was taking over their whole house, with props and equipment everywhere. Rick’s mom has owned an Ulrich storage shed for many years, and it’s still in good condition. “We knew that Ulrich buildings were really good,” Misty says. “We actually bought this building before we sold our house, to make sure we had what we wanted.” Rick says the Ulrich team really care about their customers. “Ulrich makes an excellent product,” he says. The Ulrich shed his mother has owned for 18 years, he says, “is still standing great, hasn’t lost its color, doesn’t leak.” The Sikes enjoyed working with Ulrich sales consultant Jim to design Misty’s cabin and decide on the best site for it. They purchased a 16×32 Retreat Cabin with a front porch. The Sikes were impressed at the skill of delivery driver Manoah Yoder, who moved the cabin in over a deep ditch and down a driveway to the right spot. Rick and Misty added insulation, finished the walls, and installed flooring. Within eight days of the delivery of the cabin, Misty had her studio up and running. With so much space in the cabin, Misty keeps three areas set up, making photography sessions much shorter and keeping the children she’s photographing happier. The new photography shed gives the Sikes a much-needed separation between their business and their home life. Rather than clients feeling like they’re intruding into the Sikes’ home, they feel welcomed into a spacious studio. The Sikes’ house is peaceful and uncluttered, which makes Rick happy. “Now I’ve got my house back,” Rick says. #MistyandRickSikes

Tom Curtiss never thought he’d run out of space in his backyard. But that was before his son Jeff decided he wanted a woodworking shop. Tom set about finding a way to get a shed that would be large enough to be a functional woodworking shop while at the same time fitting into his small side yard. With his Ulrich sales consultants help, Tom designed a building that would squeeze in a lot of volume in a small space. Tom’s woodworking shop is an 8×16 ft Texan. Its has the barn style roof for maximum roominess. The loft provides additional storage space. Additionally, Tom selected our Extra Tall Walls option, raising the sidewalls to about 8 ft. Jeff is not a short guy, so having tall walls helps the building feel more spacious, as well as increases the amount of tools it can store. Tool storage is key. Jeff works as an assistant manager at Rockler, a tool and hardware store. As he keeps adding more tools to his collection, Jeff and Tom are glad for each square foot they have. Jeff is currently building magnetic wood block sets as Christmas gifts, and has built the bench that graces his Dad’s entrance. Del Norte Tacos has grown a lot since it opened its doors in 2008. Besides the main restaurant area, it now has a large outdoor seating area and a private indoor meeting room for groups of 80+ people. Ulrich helps the restaurant stay organized. A rapidly growing business is awesome, but it has its challenges. One of those challenges is keeping equipment organized and protected. Kaylen Bell, the Office Manager for Del Norte, started her search for the ideal solution on Facebook.
